EEEK!!

EEEK!!

Apologies if you were trying to view our used caravans online over the Easter weekend! We’ve just realised (thanks to an eagle-eyed customer) that our home page had sneezed and allowed gremlins in to the workings.

All sorted now and back to normal again – PHEW!

CRiS Checks

CRiS Checks

We know buying a used caravan is every bit as risky as buying a used car, that’s why we carry out a CRiS check on every caravan we have for sale before it goes on to our forecourt.

Just as with a car, if you were to buy a caravan that is on finance or stolen you may not be legally entitled to keep it – you could lose the caravan and even the money you paid for it.

A CRiS Check will not only confirm the caravans true identity, but will also reassure you of the provenance of the caravan you are interested in and will reveal if the caravan is subject to an HP agreement, reported stolen or been recorded as an Insurance Write-Off. In addition CRiS will be able to confirm if the ‘seller’ is currently recorded with CRiS as the current keeper.

The Caravan Registration and Identification Scheme (CRiS) is the national register of touring caravans, which was established in 1992 by the National Caravan Council in conjunction with HPI. CRiS helps prevent and detect crime and acts as a security check for dealers and private caravan buyers.

We carry out this check, and when we sell the caravan to you we transfer ownership of it to you, allowing you to apply for a document, a little like you have for your car. Many insurance companies now require customers to provide a valid CRiS number before providing adequate cover.

It only takes a few minutes, but it could prevent a lot of heart ache in the long run – don’t buy without the security of a check!

Will You Be Gramping This Easter?

Will You Be Gramping This Easter?

It has finally been given a name! That thing that we all used to do to save a little money, and double up on childcare: taking our in-laws with us on holiday. It is now officially called “Gramping.”

The holiday operator Eurocamp and the popular family website Netmums have studied the trend and have found that 75% of families with young children were planning a summer holiday with grandparents this year.

For many families an extended family break was a chance to strengthen ties with grandparents who are playing an important role in day-to-day family life.

Are you planning on Gramping this year? If you are, we would love to see photos of your holiday. We will be announcing a photo competition (or two!) in the coming week or so – so get the cameras out and get snapping your caravan holiday / weekend / break. We will give you details on how to send them to us when we launch the competition.

WOW!

WOW!

We currently have a 6 Berth Lunar Zenith in the forecourt, but it’s not quite as old as this Lunar, recently purchased back by the company from the family who have owned it for no less than FORTY YEARS!

According to their website:

Lunar Caravans have been reunited with one of their very first models, a 1969 Lunar Saturn.  This compact two berth model has excitedly been identified as the third caravan to be made by Lunar founders, Brian Talbot and Ken Wilcock. Since being purchased from their small workshop in High Ince, Wigan, the Saturn has spent an amazing 40 years touring with the Doughill family from Bolton.

Following a difficult decision to finally retire from touring, Mr and Mrs Doughill contacted Lunar to see if they could provide a home for this 42 year old caravan which had become a real part of their family. Lunar were absolutely thrilled with this opportunity and are now looking forward to restoring it back to its original 1969 look.

Andy Jenkinson, who is a caravan expert, historian, author and journalist, commented;
“This is a fantastic example of a classic caravan from the 60′s, and it proves that Lunars quality is long lasting too! The Lunar Saturn is in remarkable condition considering it is nearly 43 years old and was used by its last owners extensively in that time. Its good to that Lunar are keen to preserve the heritage of the company and also at the same time importantly-part of the UK caravan industry’s history.”

That is some going – isn’t it? I wonder how many miles it has on “the clock” after forty years of holidays!?
